Crack On Front Window Glass In Car ?

My mom bought a Kia Sorento SUV type from auto dealer back in 2004, it’s still under the warranty I believe . Couple week ago, she said to me that there is a small crack on the front window glass . The crack is like when you have a hot glass and put it in cold water right away and they produce a nice cut on the glass .
That was couple week ago, a small about 1 inch crack, now it is like a 20 inch something o_O . This car never have any accident whatsoever and only around 17k-ish miles yet this stuff happen . I don’t want to paid this out of our pocket since this isn’t even our fault, it’s should be the manufacturer fault for making cheap glass . I got a Mazda 6 sedan and I drive more than her car yet still everything is good, even if my car got hit by a rock, the glass still solid unlike her car a tiny rock can damage it too.
Does the auto dealer warranty cover these cost or are they gonna said no ?
This crack appear out of nowhere and no evident that it even got hit at that spot.

See if Kia will replace it as a manufacturing defect. If not, file a claim with your insurance company. Many will replace at little or no charge to you.
Do get it attended to ASAP, as the windshield is an integral part of the safety system of the vehicle. In a frontal collision, the passenger airbag, when inflated, is supported by the windshield. It also increases the strength of the “A” pillars in a roll-over.

insurance company will charge you at least 500 for deductible, its only going to cost $200-$300 for a glass shop to do it so leave your insurance out of it, doesnt make sense.
windows crack sometimes, try seeing if the warranty will cover it, worst they can do is say no, if not look up auto glass in the yellow pages.

Check the fine print on the warranty, the manufacturer leaves themselves a lot of “wiggle room.”
I really doubt the warranty will cover windshield cracks. Even the best cars can have windshield cracks from road hazards. Maybe, if you have “comprehensive” insurance you can submit a claim.
DO NOT volunteer any information the insurance adjuster doesn’t ask for.
DO NOT venture any opinions AT ALL. State the facts ONLY.
“it’s should be the manufacturer fault for making cheap glass” is an OPINION that can cost you money if you blab it to an insurance adjuster.
“This crack appear out of nowhere and no evident that it even got hit at that spot.” is another OPINION that can cost you money.
“The crack is like when you have a hot glass and put it in cold water right away and they produce a nice cut on the glass .” This is another OPINION that can cost you money.
“That was couple week ago, a small about 1 inch crack, now it is like a 20 inch something o_O .” Why didn’t you report it right away? Don’t volunteer this, don’t bring it up unless they ask.
You don’t know how or when it happened, you just noticed it on a certain date. Stick with that.

well a lot of insurance companies replace windshield at no charge . you can crack a glass with quick temperature changes like pouring hot water on a cold glass. It is not that the glass is cheaply made ..windshields brake that is just a fact. I have had glasses to break for all kinds of reasons. this is just part of owning a car. you know on a very cold day if you run the car till the water temperature is up to normal temperature. Without the heater on. Then turn on the defroster .I have seen that break windshields . rapid temperature changes can brake glass, plastic.this is a case of no ones fault . Even the metal the windshield is glued to can contract when it is really cold. that add pressure to the glass and cause it to break. stuff happens

I doubt any dealer would replace a windshield with that much mileage, since anything could have caused the crack, we have USAA insurance and it is covered free as a safety issue! So, check with your insurance company first. I had an ’06 Toyota Sienna and the windshield cracked twice from two separate incidents of rocks flying on the freeway from a big rig and another big truck. I don’t think Toyota puts in inferior glass and chock it up as an accident due to stupid big trucks getting crap stuck in their chassis or fenders! I have a 2004 Kia Optima EX V6 and it has been hit by rocks several times and luckily enough it hasn’t cracked yet! I just take’em as they come and hope for the best.
